Communications & Digital Marketing Officer

About ASM

ASM is an American-International non-profit college preparatory day school, located south of Milan.

We have been educating international students from more than 50 countries since 1962, offering instruction in English from Early Childhood through High School.

We are currently recruiting for the position of Communications & Digital Marketing Officer 

We are looking for candidates with strong hands-on digital marketing experience, an outstanding creative mind and a proactive approach. They should also have a strong interest in the transformative power of education, and be willing to become involved in the activities and life of the school.

The scope of the job

The Communications & Digital Marketing Officer is part of an Advancement office whose members work as a team to support ASM’s Advancement program and the mission of the school. 

Within the Advancement Office, the Communications & Digital Marketing Officer is responsible for effectively marketing and communicating the distinct mission and values of the school, engaging current members of the community and prospective families/teachers via the website, social media, and education publications. 

This position helps maintain a positive and engaging school image to the wider public and supports Advancement needs.

 

Primary responsibilities

Communication 

  • Ensure overall brand identity in all external and internal print and media materials

  • Oversee and manage an annual advertising schedule

  • Provide support to various departments of the school regarding communication needs including but not limited to program guides, spirit products, and informational brochures

  • Coordinate, edit, and post the bi-weekly ASM newsletter for community members

  • Create print materials for fundraising and admissions initiatives, as needed

Website Management

  • Advise on website development and assess all marketing needs regionally, nationally, and internationally

  • Seek innovative ways to enhance the website by regularly benchmarking with other international school websites to ensure ASM’s website remains relevant and engaging

  • Monitor and analyze site performance (traffic, conversions, etc.)

  • Work with IT staff and software providers for software upgrades/changes and technical support as needed

  • Update and collaborate with various departments at ASM to ensure website content is kept current

Digital Marketing and Social Media

  • Assess current digital communication platforms, including advertising use, and determine which platforms and tools best serve our strategic goals and align with our mission

  • Build and execute social media strategy through competitive research and platform determination

  • Ensure the coherence of key messages and aligns brand identity across different platforms

  • Develop and expand online community outreach efforts, increasing engagement through various social media platforms

  • Oversee and manage ASM’s social media channels, posting content each week highlighting student initiatives and school programs which promote ASM’s mission

  • Execute videography and photography needs for the website and social media platforms

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in digital marketing/communications

  • 3-5 years of experience

  • Strong technology literacy, high level skills with Adobe Creative Cloud and Google Workspace

  • Facility with photography and videography 

  • Up to date with the latest social media trends and functions of platforms and an understanding of the trends of disseminating digital content

  • In-depth knowledge and experience with marketing automation, SEO/SEA/SEM, web analytics and reporting, Google Adwords campaigns, web content management systems, and social media management

  • The ability to turn story ideas into digital content

  • Effective project management skills

  • Native English or equivalent fluency required. Good working knowledge of Italian

  • Previous international experience and working in a culturally diverse workplace

Child Protection Policy

The American School of Milan strongly believes in the importance of child safety and implements safeguarding practices that reflect statutory and internationally recognized responsibilities. We affirm our belief in the right of all children to be protected from all forms of abuse, neglect, exploitation and violence as set out in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Our policy recognizes that the welfare and rights of children are paramount in all circumstances. It aims to ensure that regardless of age, gender, religion or beliefs, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, identity or socioeconomic background, all children:

  • ensure that confidential, detailed and accurate records of all safeguarding concerns are maintained and securely stored as per GDPR mandates that will be updated and disseminated to the community as necessary and appropriate.
  • provide for a rigorous screening process and background check for all applicants for employment
  • ensure that appropriate and necessary safeguarding arrangements and procedures are in operation.


This policy and its related procedures will be widely promoted and are mandatory for everyone in the ASM Community. Failure to comply with the policy or procedures will be addressed without delay and may ultimately result in dismissal or exclusion from the Community.
