As of July 1st, Wayne Rutherford took the helm as the new Director of the American School of Milan. Announced to the ASM Community in November 2018, Mr. Rutherford was nominated after a rigorous selection process and from hundreds of potential candidates.

 Internship in Finance and Accounting

Job Description

Reporting to: Head of accounting

Working within the Business Office, depending on the business cycle needs, you will be involved in the following areas:


  1. Account Payable

  • Charge expenses to accounts, cost centers and month according to controlling/Business input or by analyzing invoices/expense reports

  • Record entries

  • Process Incoming invoices

  • Create vendors in ERP

  • Verify that incoming invoices match purchase orders

  • Archive invoices according to the define protocol


  1. Account Receivable

  • Collaborate with other departments (admission office, advancement office, teaching personnel etc.) to ensure records are accurate and complete

  • Process and record transactions in compliance with financial policies and procedures

  • Process incoming calls/mails concerning billing and invoicing

  • Create Customers in ERP

For all finance area, you will also be asked to assist with audits and special projects as they arise.

Furthermore, since working in the business office, you’ll also be in contact with parents for any matter involving payments.



  • Bachelor/Master degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field

  • Fresh graduate with maximum 1 year of experience

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles

  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office applications

  • Knowledge of both English and Italian is an absolute must

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Navision is a plus

  • High degree of accuracy & Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task

  • Customer service orientation

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Team work
