Performing Arts Center

State-of-the-Art 500-Seat Theatre

In our Performing Arts Department, we are the only international school in the region that provides multiple levels of music and theater ensemble courses taught during the school day as opposed to co-curricular clubs. We also have a brand new 500-seat auditorium where our students can shine in front of the ASM community.

ASM boasts six theatrical productions every year. As part of the curriculum, middle and high school students can enroll in theatre electives that culminate in a showcase performance each semester. In past years, students have devised their own pieces, while in other years, they’ve performed classics like Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Beyond the school day, we have a rich after school activity season that currently includes:

Junior Musical
(Grades 2-3)

Our youngest performers learn acting skills through a variety of theater games and gain experience performing on stage in a group. They work together to write the script for their 30-minute show, covering educational topics such as: community helpers, life cycles, fables, or grammar.

Elementary School Musical
(Grades 4-5)

Students sing, dance, and act their way through an hour-long production and learn what it means to be part of a theatrical team. They have delighted audiences with productions such as “Annie”, “The Little Mermaid Jr”, and “Peter Pan.”

Middle School Play
(Grades 6-8)

Middle schoolers take center stage in their very own production. These students get the opportunity to focus on acting, character development, and public speaking as they work toward a final production. Last year, they had audiences howling at the murder mystery comedy: “Clue.”

Upper School Musical
(Grades 6-12)

The upper school musical is a full, Broadway-style production involving students from both middle and high school. Students have brought to the ASM stage productions such as Chicago, The Sound of Music, Little Shop of Horrors, and All Shook Up. Students hone their singing, dancing, and acting skills in preparation for three performances here at ASM.
