ASM is seeking an enthusiastic and highly effective Humanities teacher to join our dynamic middle school team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to design and deliver engaging, student-centered learning experiences. A deep commitment to middle school education and strong subject matter expertise are essential for this role. The successful candidate must be a collaborative team player and eager to work closely with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for all students.


Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging, student-centered Humanities lessons for middle school students.
  • Foster a collaborative and communicative classroom environment that supports students in developing language proficiency, cultural understanding, and a love of learning.
  • Plan and facilitate high-quality learning opportunities that align with ASM’s curriculum standards and best practices in language education.
  • Design effective assessments and provide individualized support and feedback to help students reach their academic potential.
  • Consistently embed focused teaching and learning strategies: differentiation, Making Thinking Visible practices, assessment for learning, etc.
  • Teach one section of High School Humanities or a Middle School elective, to be agreed upon with the Principal.
  • Advise a small group of students, which includes facilitating a weekly social and emotional advisory session.
  • Be available to supervise a semester-long independent study if necessary.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary projects and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous learning within the school.
  • Participate in school community events, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise three to five duties per eight-day cycle.
  • Attend weekly after-school staff meetings.
  • Participate in the week-long Experiential Learning trips taking place each October.

Qualifications
  • Valid teaching certification/license.

Experience
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.

Skills
Required
  • Strong understanding of effective language acquisition strategies for both native and additional language learners.
  • Ability to inspire curiosity and engage students in developing essential reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in Italian.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary approaches, cultural integration, and collaborative projects is an asset.
