The role includes teaching IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) Physics and 10th-grade Physics. The courses are designed to foster critical thinking, experimental inquiry, and the application of scientific concepts to real-world problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in physics, experience teaching IB physics, a passion for IB pedagogy, and the ability to inspire students to engage deeply with scientific inquiry and analysis. The course taught may change, depending on demand and school needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons for IBDP Physics and 10th-grade Physics, emphasizing experimental design, data analysis, and the integration of theoretical concepts with practical applications.
  • Guide students in the development of the skills required for the IBDP Physics Internal Assessment, including research, experimental design, data interpretation, and scientific writing.
  • Supervise and mentor students through their Internal Assessment projects for IBDP Physics.
  • Foster a collaborative and student-centered classroom environment that aligns with IB philosophy, encouraging students to think critically, work independently, and develop scientific literacy.
  • Plan, implement and assess learning experiences that align with the IB curriculum framework and prepare students for success in the IBDP Physics course and exams.
  • Design and implement effective assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Provide targeted feedback to support students’ progress and academic achievement in line with IBDP assessment criteria.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and the Science Coordinator to enhance the vertical and horizontal alignment of the science curriculum.
  • Participate in school community events, extracurricular activities, and professional development opportunities.
  • Supervise two to four duties per eight-day cycle.
  • Be available to supervise a Study Hall if necessary. 
  • Attend weekly after-school staff meetings.
  • Participate in the week-long Experiential Learning trips taking place each October.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Science Education, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification/license.

Experience
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably in an international school setting.

 

Skills Required
  • Minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably including IBDP Physics or another rigorous pre-university curriculum (e.g., AP, A-Level). 
  • Ability to inspire curiosity and engage diverse learners in developing critical scientific skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
Desired
  • Expertise in delivering the IB curriculum, including an understanding of the assessment criteria for IBDP Physics.
  • Familiarity with Making Thinking Visible (MTV) practices is an advantage. 
  • Experience with collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches to teaching is an asset.
