Pre-Kindergarten Preparation

As part of our Early Childhood Program, we offer a Pre-Kindergarten track for children once they turn four years old:

› Children must be recommended for the program by their teacher

› Children may begin the Pre-K track at any time during the school year

› Children demonstrate sustained energy during the day without the need for a nap

› Children demonstrate an increasing interest in pre-literacy and mathematical/or spatial reasoning

During the early preschool years, all of our students develop fundamental vocabulary and language skills, exploring a wide range of activities through hands-on experiences and play. All of our EC students participate in additional subjects including expressive theater (new this year), music, physical education and library.

While each child develops at his or her own pace, our Pre-Kindergarten track aims to engage children in building pre-literacy awareness, pre-math readiness and developing independent work habits. Children participating in our Pre-K track will work each day, during nap time, with one of our Early Childhood teachers, who will focus on developing skills that will bridge their preparation for Kindergarten.
