Celebrating International Women’s Day

Celebrating International Women’s Day

One of the themes for International Women’s Day this year is about the impact of the pandemic on working women and balancing work and children at home during the Pandemic.

International Women’s Day takes place every year on 8 March to celebrate the achievements of women all over the world. The Pandemic’s Gender Effect is explored in this McKinsey Quarterly and links to some good articles relating to this very relevant topic for many women (and men). One of our 2nd grade teachers, Ms. Munson, shared podcasts for children in Elementary School (Rebel Girls) to showcase inspiring personal stories from women. Students also watched THIS video which explains why International Women’s Day is recognized on March 8th. Students had the chance to learn and discuss the importance of this day by asking questions and sharing stories. "Can you imagine a future where there’s no need at all to even have an International Women’s Day? Where there is total equality for men and women?"

Happy International Women’s Day as we embark together on our unique journey of balancing home and work in 2021.
