The student has not reached any of the descriptions given below.

1 – 2 VP/C

The student shows basic use of mathematical language in his/her own words and /or forms of mathematical representation. Presentation is somewhat neat and clear.

3 – 4 C+/B

The student shows sufficient use of mathematical language in his/her own words and forms of mathematical representation. The student moves between different forms of representation with some success. Presentation is neat and clear and somewhat artistic and creative

5 – 6 A/A+

The student shows good use of mathematical language and forms of mathematical representation. The student moves effectively between different forms of representation. Presentation is very neat and clear and extremely artistic and creative.

Here are the required definitions. There are also definitions & examples in the back of your book but REMEMBER TO USE YOUR OWN WORDS and examples.

Line plot- organizes data on a number line using Xs to represent values

Bar graph- a graph that displays data (horizontally or vertically) in bars to show frequency (how often the values occur)

Table- Organizes data in rows and columns

Mode- the most frequent value or number that appears the most

Range- spread of the data – difference between the smallest and greatest value

Median- mid point of the data set

Categorical data- data is grouped by categories (favorite sport)

Numerical data- counts or measures (number of pets)

Stem & Leaf Plot – shows the shape of distribution and includes the numbers

Outlier- A value that is far from the center of data distribution

Coordinate Graph - points are used to show pairs of related values (x,y) in ordered pairs

x- axis – horizontal number line on a graph

y- axis – vertical number line on a graph

Mean- the value if the data was redistributed evenly
