PTO events

The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) organizes the activities and committees detailed below.

Welcome Coffees

held on the first four official school days from 8:30 – 10:00 am, at the front entrance.  Coffee and brioche (fresh baked pastries) are available for parents.  Get answers to your questions, school or non school related.  Meet other parents and sign-up to volunteer at future PTO events.

PTO Meetings

held every second Wednesday of the month, (check the ASM calendar) from 9:00 till 10:30 am in room 305.  Besides reporting and being informed on PTO events, these meetings provide parents with opportunities to communicate ideas relating to school matters.

Bazaar meetings

held every Tuesday in the Library Conference Room for the entire school day. The Bazaar Ladies meet to learn and perform arts and crafts, but also to foster friendship among the ASM mothers, and chat over a cup of coffee. Members can come and leave any time. The Bazaar ladies also organize specific arts and crafts lessons in the PTO room by the atrium during the school year. Check for specific announcements.

Newcomers Tour & Luncheon

held on the second Wednesday in September from 9:00am till 2:00pm. This event is organized to welcome our new parents. The day begins with a tour of Milan in a private coach and upon returning to school, a delicious lunch prepared by PTO members is served. Volunteer sign-up sheets are available for you parents eager for opportunities to become more involved in your child’s school. Click here for the flyer

Elementary Welcome Back Picnic

held on the third Sunday in September from noon till 3:00pm on the school grounds. Come and enjoy a perfect day with your family.  The PTO members prepare food, drinks and games. A fun way to interact with the administration, faculty, parents and students.

Welcome to Milan Workshop

held on the last Wednesday of September from 9:00 till 12:30 in the Library Conference Room: a seminar for foreign parents who just moved to Italy and enrolled their kids at ASM. This is an ASM event hosted by the PTO. Click here for more information.

Year-round  welcome activities

The PTO Welcome group is available throughout the school year to help  newcomers to integrate in their new life in Milan and at ASM.

Social events

The refurbished Elementary kitchen/project room, 2010 PTO sponsored project, will allow the PTO to host cooking lessons . Other social activities will be organized throughout the year to build up friendship among PTO members. Check for specific announcements.

Halloween Festival

held on the last Friday in October, (check the ASM calendar) in the Gym from 7:00 till 9:30pm. This is a special treat for children and parents alike filled with tasty food, groovy music, fun games, and plenty of candy.  Get dressed up in your favorite costume to participate in the costume contest and win great prizes and don’t miss out on the Performing Arts Committee’s Haunted Mansion: an evening of enchanted fun for the entire family to enjoy.

Holiday Craft Fair

held on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, (check the ASM calendar) in the grand atrium from 11:00am till 2:00pm. After celebrating an authentic Thanksgiving Lunch with your child(ren),  come support your PTO and make a point to purchase at least three gift items for your friends and family on your shopping list for the up-coming holidays.  The PTO sells beautifully made crafts for all your gift giving needs.  Remember that by supporting the PTO fundraising efforts, you contribute to the enhancement of your child’s education.

Reindeer Bazaar

held on the first Wednesday and Thursday of December in the cafetorium from 9:30am till 2:30pm.  This event is designed to provide the entire ASM community with affordable gifts to purchase for all the people on your holiday shopping list. During these days, your child(ren) may buy gifts for their teacher, friends and family. Gift wrapping is free.

Family Bingo Night

held on the first Friday of February in the cafetorium from 7:00pm till 9:30pm.  A Bingo evening for the entire family with big prizes, hosted by the ASM Girl Scouts and NJHS.

Easter Egg Hunt

held on the last day before Spring Break.  An event for Elementary students held during school hours by the PTO Elementary coordinators and Homeroom mothers.

International Night and Raffle

held on the second Friday in April (check the ASM calendar) in the cafetorium (flag ceremony) and Gym halls (food court and raffle). This is the evening when the entire ASM community and their guests celebrate the cultural diversities of our school. The event begins with a flag ceremony displaying every country represented at ASM and students’ performances. Later, everyone enjoys tasting a variety of  specialties prepared by the families of many different countries represented at ASM. Incredible gifts are raffled towards the  conclusion of this  event, that really represents the spirit of our community.

Goodbye Workshop

held on the last Wednesday of May from 9:00 till 12:30 in the Library Conference Room:  a seminar for parents who are leaving the school/country about how to say a “good goodbye”. This is an ASM event hosted by the PTO.

Teachers and Staff Appreciation Luncheon

held on the last Friday of May in the elementary multipurpose room.  A special way to say “Thank you” to ASM teachers and staff .
