Upper School
ASM’s Upper School college preparatory program provides adolescents
with a firm grounding in the fundamentals of thinking and learning
while placing an emphasis on personal intellectual, emotional and
social growth.
In the fostering of life-long learning, teachers in Grades 9 through 12
guide students in their understanding of subject area content, the
integration of learning, the use of technology and the completion of
comprehensive research projects which require them to organize,
analyze, synthesize, and articulate complex arguments into a cohesive
and coherent whole.
The school’s program of studies is a comprehensive and rigorous
curriculum, which challenges students to progress in their intellectual
competence and to grow into confident, caring and productive young
adults. Like the Middle School students, High School learners can
connect to the Internet or the ASM Intranet at any time and any place
with their required wireless laptop computer.
Activities within the school afford students a chance to define their
sense of self through interactions with peers and teachers. Guided by
our High School counselor, students make informed choices as they
design their courses of study and apply to colleges and universities
both in Italy and abroad. At the same time that students pursue the ASM
high school diploma, they may candidate for the International
Baccalaureate Diploma. With both diplomas in hand, ASM High School
graduates hold a passport that gives access to the best colleges and
universities around the world. Students enrolled in our ASM Diploma
Program may apply to American universities both in the U.S. and abroad,
while those earning the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma
have access to British, European and American universities. Recent ASM
graduates have attended Columbia, MIT, Middlebury, NYU, Stanford,
Tufts, The University of California at Berkeley, Cambridge University,
University College London as well as the Catholic University of Milan,
the State University of Milan, Bocconi University, and the Milan
Polytechnic.
