In the
past 20 years, chemically made drugs have been increasing in popularity
among drug users all around the world. Although "old" drugs like marijuana
and cocaine are still used among addicts, chemically prepared drugs like
Extacy and Angel Dust are becoming more common and desired by drugs users
today. It is also true that these drugs contain a much larger
percentage
of life threatening substances. Although Extacy is a dangerous drug,
it has been excessively rumoured by the media to be the "Killer Drug from
Hell". This is unfair though, because the statistics show that deaths due
to Extacy are rare and can usually be prevented by the user. Over the past
years, it has adapted many other names including E, XTC, X, Ecstasy, MDMA,
MDA, Dove, Love, and Adam. (1) --Source:

Marco's
Mental Disorder Paper
This

of the brain. Since the use of Extacy is said to reduce the amount of seratonin
in the brain, and could, in the future, cause mental disorders, this site
might be useful.
Freddy's
Cannabis Paper
A
site which focuses on the history, effects and symptoms of another popular
drug -- Cannabis.
**Internet Sites**
Erowid
MDMA Vault
This
is a very good site which has basically everything that is needed to know
about Extacy. It includes images of Extacy pills, it also has the
chemistry make up of the drug, and the effects and symptoms. It also includes
a section of law, dealing with Extacy, and with a F.A.Q. section.
DEA-MDMA
This
site is very techinal, and mainly deals with the effects of Extacy, and
the punishments for selling the drug. It focuses a lot on the fact that
Extacy can cause seratonin in the brain to decrease.
Extacy.org
This
site offers a look into the details of taking Extacy, while also supplying
the viewed to check out some articles and read past stories that users
have written about Extacy.
Information
on Drugs of Abuse-Extacy

is another technical site which offers a little background on the drug,
and tells about its effects and also its popularity among teenagers.
MDMA
'Extacy'
This
site, once again, another technical and scientific site which deals with
the substances in Extacy pills, and how they can have variations and extensions.
At the end of the page, you can choose other links connected to the site
which deal with other issues such as safety precautions while using Extacy.
Nida

A
site which offers information on a lot of different aspects such as health
hazards, methods of use, extent os use and effects of use. A basic but
detailed site.
Extacy

This
is a huge site which offers a lot of detailed (and somewhat complicated!)
information on the history of Extacy, and the research being done on it
to prove (or disprove) that it is related to mental illnesses.
Neuroscience

A
very good site which is meant for little kids, but still contains a lot
of good, clear and detailed information on the effects (short and long
term) and the symptoms of Extacy. Has some nice pictures too! :)
**From Our Textbook**
Section
34.5, Nervous System Health and Substance Abuse.
This chapter
deals with the effects on the nervous system due to drug abuse.
Section
34.3, Central and Peripheral Nervous Systems.
This takes
a more detailed look at the nervous system and on how it works. It also
has a nice specific area that deals with the brain. This chapter would
be useful seeing as how Extacy effects the brain and other parts of the
nervous system.
Section
31.4, Circulatory System
Talks about
how it how the ciculatory system, because the use of of Extacy effects
this system.
